The Manager, Mr. Ibrahim A. Idris (Alooma) popularly called “Elewi kilokilo”, is a journalist and a veteran broadcaster of high repute. He is currently the Acting Station Manager of UNILORIN 89.3 FM. Born in Ile-Ife, he attended Olubuse Memorial Grammar School Ile-Ife, Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun from where he graduated with NCE in English/Yoruba. He later attended the University of Ilorin where he studied Yoruba and graduated with second class upper division. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism affiliated to the University of Maiduguri.
A well-established communicator, Mr. Idris started his career as a presenter at Radio Kwara in 1995 and devoted about two decades of hard work to the radio station before bowing out in 2013. He worked as Correspondent at Alaroye Newspaper between 2000 and 2013 and rose through the ranks to become the Ilorin Bureau Chief. He also worked in academics during his stint as a part-time lecturer at the College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Ilorin as well as the College of Education, Ilorin. He joined the services of Unilorin FM radio in 2013
Mr. Idris Alooma has exhibited great leadership skill which is evident from the various positions he has held some of which are; the President of the Yoruba Students Association, University of Ilorin chapter and also the Pioneer Secretary of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Kwara State chapter. He was the Head of Programmes at the Unilorin FM between 2013 and 2018.
Mr Idris Alooma believes in continuous learning and has attended seminars and trainings on broadcasting and leadership in South Africa, Ghana and Togo amongst others.
Mr. Idris Alooma is a recipient of many awards which attests to his level of commitment to work. He was named the NYSC best Corps member, Kwara State in 2000. His other awards include; Kwara State Man ‘O’ War Award (2010), Association of Osun State indigenes, Kwara State Chapter Award (2011), Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun Alumni Award (2012), Radio Television Theater and Arts Workers Union (RATAWU), Radio Kwara State Chapter Award (2012), Oodua Progressive Care Initiative Award (2017), RAFFAT Offspring Memorial Foundation Award of Excellence (2017), WAHABI KEBE Entertainment Award of Excellence (2017).
Mr. Idris Alooma is an apiculturist and a poet and has released three albums namely; Asiko Eda, Pataki Eko, Pataki Odo. His style of recitation encourages societal and youth development which earned him the alias “Elewi Kilokilo” meaning “The Warning Poet”
Mr. Idris Alooma is happily married with children.
